Dear Festival Fans!
This Saturday would likely have been the date for our Festival of Nations, the school year's biggest fundraiser, and the opportunity for us to get together and party as a whole community. We, the FoN committee members, are especially saddened that Covid has spoiled plans to celebrate our school in its historic 20th anniversary year. However, we now have a plan to bring us together in a common cause, and try to recoup some of the losses that festival cancellation means...
The Gift Basket Raffle is one of the most anticipated parts of the festival. This year we want to GO BIG. We would like each class in the school to create a gift basket for a grand raffle, which will be held in December (date to be confirmed).
Your basket should preferably be themed for a particular country, to stick to the principal idea behind FoN of showing pride in our diverse community. But you can also choose to get creative with this brief. Perhaps you want to represent Christmas in Australia? Create a homage to K-Pop? Or a Bollywood movie night? Maybe a Japanese themed pampering basket? Or a romantic Italian dinner evening? Here are some past examples.
N.B. In case Covid causes a postponement of the raffle, perishable goods should not be included in baskets.
WHAT TO DO:
Parent reps should start the conversation in their class. Request one or two 'Raffle Captain' volunteer/s to coordinate and act as a point of contact. Pick a country and ask for ideas from the whole class about what should be in your basket. Decide whether you prefer cash contributions from families or for items to be donated.
