On March 17 2017, 104 students (from all year 8 classes) and 10 teachers traveled to Austria to ski for a week at Hochzillertal, one of the greatest ski resorts in Europe. After a fairly relaxing overnight-ride with the coach we arrived in Münster, Austria, early on Saturday morning. The hostel was a different one this year with better rooms and in a more romantic location away from downtown Münster (and the supermarket). It took a while to get the rooms sorted, 110 pairs of skis and boots rented, luggage unpacked before students and teachers went on the famous geomorphological hike along the spurs of the alps. On Sunday morning, skiing lessons started and went on until Friday, March 24.
We were blessed with lots of sunshine and warm temperatures which – however – made the snow melt around noon each day. But the students also experienced moments of total confusion when stuck in a thick cloud. After all, all students (and teachers) managed to improve their skiing skills and athletic performance. Thank you for a great week!
