The South African Embassy in Berlin commemorated Nelson Mandela, who would have turned 100 this year, with a special celebration and invited the choir of the Nelson Mandela School to be the main performer. The reception hall of the embassy was thoughtfully decorated with posters telling the impressive life story and great achievements of Nelson Mandela.
Under the direction of Mr. Beaner our choir was able to deliver a stunning performance.
The children clearly enjoyed presenting the
“South African and German Anthem”, the “Nelson-Mandela-School Song” and again a breath taking “All of me” by John Legend. Within a cheerful and stirring atmosphere guests were sweeped along, seen rocking and clapping. H.E. Ambassador PS Sizani was so impressed, he wanted a picture taken with the entire choir. Afterwards we all enjoyed a festive luncheon buffet, with many South African traditional dishes. Satisfied and happy we made our way back to school, the children were so high spirited they gave a free performance on the bus, which was widely enjoyed. It was a delight to accompany the children.
