Secondary Art, Geography + Biology teachers and students join forces for a cross-departmental initiative + workshop to make P30 into a “green oasis”. Planning began in March 2019 and will continue in the summer and into the new school year!

On May, 27 2019, An Inter-school art exhibition will take place. It is a joint art exhibition with International Schools (Nelson Mandela, John F. Kenndy, and Cosmopolitan).
Each school will submit 10 artworks, (with the theme Diversity) and will take place in Babelsbergerstraße 24, 10715 on the 2nd floor.
The Nelson Mandela School Choir was invited to the South African Freedom Day Celebration on April 26, 2019.
This event took place at the South African Embassy. Over fifteen students represented the choir during the Easter Holidays. The choir sang the South African National Anthem and the German National Anthem. They were well received.
The audition started to sing with them. A good time was had by all. The choir sang two addition songs. They, too, were well received.

ACTIVITY SPACES WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN THE FOYER featuring Natural and Social Sciences, Languages, the Arts and Student Presentations.
Am Dienstag, 21.05.2019 ist Ubuntu-Tag an der Nelson Mandela Schule. An diesem Tag werden in der gesamten Schule Aktivitäten stattfinden und die Diversität unserer Gemeinschaft gefeiert. An der Grundschule der P23 wird von 14:00 bis 17:00 Uhr ein Ubuntu-Festival stattfinden, zu dem wir Sie herzlich einladen.
Ab 14:00 Uhr findet kein regulärer Unterricht statt. Jede Klasse macht ein Angebot an dem alle Kinder teilnehmen können. Dies ist eine tolle Gelegenheit in der Schule zusammen zu kommen, sich auszutauschen und die Vielfältigkeit unserer Gemeinschaft zu feiern.
Für das leibliche Wohl wird gesorgt sein. Im Sinne der Nachhaltigkeit bitten wir alle ihr eigenes Besteck,Teller und Tasse mitzubringen. Die Aktivitäten und Speisen werden für 0,50 € angeboten und entsprechende Gutscheine können im Eingangsbereich erworben werden, um Bargeld zu minimieren. Die Kinder der Klassen 1 – 4 werden vorab je einen Gutschein erhalten.

April 11, 2019 at the Wilmersdorf Stadium
As the German saying goes 'April, April, macht was er will', however the cold weather could not disrupt the great atmosphere of the 2019 NMS Primary Sports day.
As soon as the students arrived, the festive atmosphere began. Luckily the day started out sunny and the flex/3rd grade classes were able to take advantage of the more friendly weather.
All students tried their best and encouraged their classmates. Although only few classes won the 'Sportschildship Award', it was obvious that all students displayed the values of fair play.
The tug-of-war event was a real highlight with all classes present to cheer each other on. The educators and teachers even got involved with a flex/3rd grade verses 4/5/6 grade staff members action.

In diesem Schuljahr nahmen 2 Teams unserer Schule an der ALBA Oberschulliga teil. Gespielt wurden je 3 Turniere, als Vorrunde, Zwischenrunde und Finale.
Im WK II der Jungen (Jg.02-05) wurde in der Vorrunde Platz 3 in der Anfängergruppe erspielt, in der Zwischenrunde folgte Platz 1.
Damit war der Aufstieg in die höhere Klasse Junior geschafft. Die Finalrunde fand am 22.03. in der Max-Schmeling-Halle statt.
Mit den neuen durch den Förderverein der Schule gesponserten Basketballtrikots, wurde nach schönen Kombinationen gegen die Virchow-OS, das Barnim-Gym und die Hans-Grade-OS gewonnen und Platz 1 geholt.Im WK I der Jungen (Jg.00-03) wurden die Plätze 2 (Vorrunde), 3 (Zwischenrunde) und 3 (Finale, Junior) gewonnen.

Unter dem Motto „Freunde ohne Grenzen / Friends without Frontiers“ sucht das Auswärtige Amt schreibbegeisterte Kinder und Jugendliche, die ihre eigenen Texte veröffentlichen möchten. Patin des E-Books ist die Kinder- und Jugendbuchautorin Cornelia Funke.
“Freunde ohne Grenzen / Friends without Frontiers„ wird anlässlich des Tags der offenen Tür der Bundesregierung am 18. August 2019 im Auswärtigen Amt vorgestellt. Die besten drei Texte jeder Altersgruppe werden prämiert. Texte werden in den Altersgruppen bis 10 Jahre, von 11 bis 14 Jahre und von 15 bis 19 Jahre angenommen. Eine spezielle Feier fand heute in der Babelsberger Strasse statt: die Zweite Internationale Schule hat heute morgen offiziell ihren neuen Namen angenommen: Wangari Maathai Internationale Schule. Die Ehrengäste Mark Rackles, Stadt Senatorin für Bildung, der Botschafter der Republik Kenia, Joseph Magutt, sowie der amtierende Schulleiter Matthias Rösner steuerten Grußworte, Begeisterung und gute Wünsche für die Zukunft der Schule bei.
This year too on 28th February our Nelson Mandela Debating Group made up of four teams participated in the Berlin Championship in partnership with Freiblickinstitut e.V.
The spirit with which all schools took part, created a great day for debating which we all enjoyed at The University of Applied Sciences Europe last Thursday. It really was the students who made it such a memorable and inspiring event. Berlin was also showing itself from its best side, with a beautiful late winter sunny day.
